My favorite 223 load is the Sierra Tipped Match King 69 gr over 24 gr of 8208 XBR, 2.255 COL, CCI BR-4 and cheap brass. It runs 2890 fps out of a 20" GM 1:8 barrel and is also my goto load for yotes. Recently upgraded chrono to a clip on Magnetospeed and love it.

Sep 08, 2017 · IMR-3031 is very versatile and I have had good luck with it under 52 grain Speer hollow points. IMR-4198 is an economical choice since maximum loads tend to occur around 20 grains (as opposed to 23, 24, or 25 grains with some of the other powders used n 223) so you get as many as 70 more rounds out of a pound of powder.

I suspect that the powder you are using is working very well with your 75 grain bullets but is a bit slow for the lighter 52/53 grain bullets. I am using N133 for lighter bullets. with a 50 grain vmax out of my 20 inch RRA I'm getting an honest 3250, and just over 3400 out of my 24 inch bolt gun. I'm looking to try Hornady's new 53 grain vmax.
